Committees & Interest Groups
Am HaYam committees and interest groups drive the programs and activities that keep the Havurah vibrant for its members. Following is a highlight of the major committees:
Children's Study - Provides Sunday, Hebrew, Holy Day, Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs for members' children.
Newsletter - Publishes a monthly newsletter to keep our members informed of our activities.
Torah Study - Arranges with our visiting Rabbi for near monthly sessions to provide our members Jewish education.
Ritual - Supports our monthly Friday night services, bereavement services, adult Hebrew lessons and Holy Day activities.
Adult Education - Features special events several times during the year providing unique insights into Judaism and Jewish history and culture.
High Holy Day - Coordinates all aspects of our yearly Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur services and break-the-fast.
Special Events - Coordinates our family celebration of traditional Holy Days such as Chanukah, Purim, Sukkoth and Passover.
Tzedakah - Works with local and religious groups to include Am HaYam in their charitable activities.
Discussion Groups - Features bimonthly meetings of members to discuss subjects of current interest.
Rosh Chodesh - Our women's group celebrating topics of common interest at monthly meetings.
Men's Club - Our men's group meets monthly for discussions and activities of common interest.
Finance - Sets the allocation of available funds to the operational committees of the Havurah.
